Happy new year everyone out there!!! I wish you all the best this year and beyond. I’ve started the year running with my third gig in a week coming up. Will also aim to have my next album featuring Rob Lundgren, Dennis Leeflang and Mathew Szkup out this year too. More on that below…….
As mentioned, I’ve done a couple of gigs this week for the good folks at Impact Events, playing at The Basement Cafe and Bar (350 Latrobe St, Melbourne) and The Arcadia Hotel (South Yarra). These are are great bunch of folks doing good things for the music scene and I plan on being a part of more events asap. Check out some photos / video / setlists from both nights.

Welcome to the first update in a while! My apologies for that, but here’s the latest!
The Szkup, Lundgren, Leeflang, Szkup collection of songs is still happening!!! Sometimes life happens and gets in the way of the plans you’ve made, but rest assured that this stuff will be coming out. It’s some of the best stuff I’ve ever done by a long shot. Here’s a short vid from guitar tracking today!
Recently I also made my return to the live stage in Hobart for the first time in 11 years, as part of a
Metallica Tribute band Cunning Stunts, featuring Brett Collidge – Drums, Jake Cowburn – Bass / Vocals, Mathew Szkup – Guitar / Vocals and Myself – Guitar. The night was an amazing success and totally took us by suprise. So much so that we’ll be doing it again semi regularly as we’re able to find free dates in everyone’s schedules. Will keep you posted!
Over the past handful of months I’ve been getting a line up of guys together slowly. It’s intended to be very heavy and aggressive thrash metal, and we’re writing for it as we speak. Still on the hunt for a singer and a bass player if anyone is out there.
Here are a couple of vids from us jamming!
Back in February I was honoured to be asked again by the mighty Dan Verkys to provide music for his latest exhibition called Chaos Dreaming!!! Was a great day as always. Here’s a few pics from the festivities!!
Check this out if you’re anywhere near Romsey next weekend for the launch, and through March for the length of the exhibition!!!!!
It’s always a pleasure being asked to be involved with such a talented man as Dan Verky’s creative pursuits, and I know for a fact that he’s REALLY going the extra mile to put on a real show. I’m totally excited to see everything he’s cooked up!!!
As it happens I’ll be polluting the airwaves with some instrumental acoustic music as well, but don’t let that put you off. Just make sure you come cause it will be a cracker!!!
Man, what a cool night this was!! I had been meaning to get down to the studio in FOREVER but life kinda had other plans. I’ve been signed up to their site since the very early days though and always really appreciated what they do for us indie musicians – was something to finally see it all first hand and meet Gareth and Tony!!
Not to mention the other acts – Jimmy Maddon with his Cat Stevens vibed story telling, and the soul and groove of Thando, this was a fantastic evening and one I hope I’ll get the chance to do again soon!!!
Jimmy is touring Indonesia very soon, while Thando was hitting it for a string of east coast tour dates right after this – hope it goes amazing for both acts!! Great to meet you and AMR!! 😀

Check this out friends! I’ll be a part of this cool event on Tuesday which is live streamed on amr.fm! Will be some tunes, talk and maybe some jamming too! These guys have supported my music since their very early days and do a lot of cool things for indie artists just like myself, so make sure you listen to the live broadcast this Tuesday October 13th!!
Had a great time at The Eltham Hotel last night!! Of note in the setlist is the live debut of a new song that I’m finishing up in the studio at the moment with the Szkup, Lundgren, Leeflang, Szkup album called “I Will Wait For You” – although I wrote the basis of the melodies in the song, there is definitely a reason why Rob is the singer on the song, and it was no easy task trying to sing his parts I can tell you haha!
As of today, Mr Rob Lundgren sang his final stuff for the next album and it’s sounding killer!! Now we’re at the stage of Skube and myself adding / tweaking guitar bits before mixing and mastering gets underway. Too early to say when this baby might be released, but I’ll be sure to keep you posted!!
I’ll be playing live acoustic at The Eltham Hotel, here in Melbourne on May 27 at 8pm!! Click here for directions and note that there is very likely to be more events happening that same week.
Also, I was recently asked by my mate Dan Verkys, the fantastic fellow that does the artwork on music releases for me if I’d like to play some tunes at his forthcoming exhibition called Chaos Dreaming, which is running at the Mad Gallery from August 16 – September 16. You should definitely make sure you get along to this if you’re in Victoria over that time. This man is an amazing talent!!!! Click here to RSVP via the Facebook event!
The last day of the year as as good a day as any for some video action right??!!
Here’s the official video for “Ascend”. This track is from my “Resist to Exist” album that came out in August 2014, and features my bro Mathew Szkup laying down the smack, and a cameo from Dennis Leeflang on tribal drums. Hope you enjoy!!
Also…..here’s some video from yesterday’s guitar tracking for the next album!! Thanks for hanging with me this year and always, and HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and yours!! 😀
