Line up:
Chris Szkup – Guitars, Bass, Lead and backing vocals
Mathew Szkup – Drums, guitars, backing vocals
Recorded at Red Planet Recording by Stew and Jake Long
Mixed by Dennis Leeflang, mastered by Andy VanDette, artwork by Dan Verkys
Yet another sneak peak into the new music coming your way very soon! Unfortunately Skube (drums / lead guitar) and Paul Jolley (keys) couldn’t make it due to living in Tasmania and England respectively, so instead you get the CS Trio for the footage!
Just a tiny peak at the new music I’ll have coming very soon. Joining me on these songs is my bro in life and music, Mr Mathew Szkup, who you’ll see rocking out in this video for a moment!
The audio here is unmastered but I hope you dig it all the same and I’m sure you’ll agree that the mixing by Mr Dennis Leeflang crushes!
Recently we were working behind the scenes on a forthcoming single by The Feckers called “Far From Done”, and I could hear a string on the song – something I didn’t have!!
So after lots of asking around and suprisingly very few guitarists actually having one, it was time to add to the family so to speak!!
Will be recording the tracks over the week so we can have the single out asap!!
Speaking of The Feckers, there was a little album we’ve been working on for a while that you may have heard me mention called “It’d Be Rude Not To”? ….. Well it’s extremely close to being a done deal. Will be going to Red Planet very early August to make 3 tiny little changes to mixes and then we’re mastering. Will be posting some release info for this thing really soon, so stay with us ok?
Much thanks as always!!! After that wraps up, I’ll be busting out a couple more songs with Skube that will be the final ones for my next album that was started just before things in Feckerville kicked into high gear in early 2010. Stay tuned for that also.
I’ll be doing the same thing in regards to singles with a steady flow of them that will come out via iTunes and also be available as full length videos on Youtube before the eventual release of that next CS Solo album. As it stands now there is a good half an hour of music complete, drums down on 4 more, with two more to come. Looking forward to it coming “to be” 😛
Thanks friends!!!!! RIP Jon Lord!!!! 🙁
At the start of the month we had 4 days in the studio which was a combination of Feckers and solo stuff – both of which we made quite a lot of progress on!!!
SOLO STUFF – Check out my Youtube Channel for a new video with Skube and I singing backing vocals on one of the songs that will be on my next album!!! We finished off lead vocals for this round of songs on day 1 of the studio sessions just gone. Just gotta add a string section, and it’ll be a done deal!! To say I’m happy with the results would be an absolute understatement. Note there’s no release date for this set as yet – so far we’re 4 songs into it, so you’ll know more closer to it being finished!!
FECKERS – Days 2, 3 and 4 were spent working on Feckers material – from Skube doing bass tracks on an as yet unnamed track, to our cousin Irene Slad doing some killer vocals on two songs so far, to myself laying down bass and guitars on several tracks.
Since I got back, we’ve also had some more drum tracks come in from Mr Leeflang, some vocals from Mr Smith, and some more vocals from Mr Bratbakken. It’s all kicking total butt, and we can’t wait for you to hear it!!!!
We’ve also got a little snippet from me doing guitar tracks from this album on the Youtube channel, so make sure you pay a visit!!!
Only a short one today, but keep an ear out cause there is heaps of stuff happening and I love it!!!!
ALBUM IS GETTING CLOSER!!
So we’re basically up to track 8 and 9 (of 10) for the album, and we spent some time tending to these on the weekend just gone.
One of them is a folky little number that I had recorded in the past called “October 22”, but I wasn’t completely happy with that version, and always wanted to redo it when the time was right. On this one, I added bass, two acoustics, lead bits, some flute-ish keyboard bits and lead vocals. Skube and Stew made some comments along the lines of the bass part reminding them of a “walking McCartney type thing” which is of course a massive rap that I’ll gladly take
All that needs doing on this track is backup vocal harmonies.
The other one is a hard rocker called “First Blood” on which we did some keys and trumpet bits and retouched a solo, readying it for vocalising, and after that it’s a done deal.
So we’re fast approaching a release for this thing folks – I shit you not!!
This is how the songlist for the album is looking at the moment remembering that it’s gonna be 10 tracks:
(I Can’t) Start Again
Innate Self Destruct
Tribal Eat Pop Slop
To A Scream
Soundtrack
Transition
Lost Soul
October 22
First Blood
_______ _________ – (To be confirmed)
More soon,
-Chris
Just realised it’s been a while since I made an update here, so for all 3 of you, here’s a new update for October!
The biggest news on this note is that, after several productive sessions over the last little while, I can report that there are 6 tracks that are totally complete – mixed, mastered and everything, and there is a 7th track to be mixed over the next little while.
Sounding beyond what I could have ever hoped for. Really bloody happy so far – and that has always been the key behind making these songs. Finally I was gonna do some music that wasn’t rushed or limited by anything whatsoever, and it’s great to be doing it I gotta say!
On my last visit to Red Planet, we started what will be the final tracks for the album, so essentially, we’re looking at 10 tracks all up. Dale Brewer who has been on the 4 string mother funker on everything thus far unfortunately wasn’t able to make it along this time, but all up plays on 7 out of the 10 tracks.
During these final tracks Skube (my Bro, and also the skinsman on this thing, not to mention his many many other contributions) ‘Phill Rudd-ed’ the shit out of a rock song called ‘First Blood’ – totally slammin all the way which was just what it needed.
VIDS from the studio – October 08:
These are some of the songs that will be on there :
(I Can’t) Start Again
Innate Self Destruct
Tribal Eat Pop Slop
To A Scream
Lost Soul
Soundtrack (To Snail Racing)
First Blood
(More to come – audio, video, remaining titles etc)
Speaking of drums, I recently got myself an electronic set for the house, which has been awesome demoing up ideas on. Been on holidays the last week or so, and I’ll start drumming at 8am most days – can’t always do that with a regular kit haha
Anyway, that be it for now you three. Hope you enjoyed the update, and that you’ll stay tuned for further ones.
Album is kicking arse!!!!!!!!!!!!
