Following – December 2018

I wrote in 2003, when I knew that I had to leave my home town and move away to keep growing. At the time I played in the metal band Jigsore, but was also getting into more melodic things like this and it was coming out in my writing. Wanted to keep both things going, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be. All vox, guitars, bass, percussion, mixing, mastering and video editing by me, artwork by Dan Verkys. Hope you dig! 😀

One Half Of Two – August 2018

The fifth in a “once a month or so” series of tracks from TCSO, a mellow acoustic song written by Chris in his Mount Stuart unit up in the hills in 2001 on the old Tascam four track, where he would sometimes write and record three songs in a day. Not having a job had some benefits. Featuring fellow Fecker Paul Jolley (Piano), and Rob Lundgren (vocals) alongside Chris Szkup (guitars, bass, cajon, shaker, backing vocals). Once again, mixing by Dennis Leeflang, mastering by Andy VanDette at Engineroom Audio in NYC, while artwork was done by Dan Verkys.

I Will Wait For You – August 2018

The fourth in a “once a month or so” series of tracks from TCSO, a very personal song, “I Will Wait For You”, and as Chris will tell you, one of his proudest moments as a songwriter. Featuring TCSO regulars Rob Lundgren (vocals) and Dennis Leeflang (drums and mix) alongside Chris Szkup (guitars and bass), due to the content of this song, Mathew Szkup was high on the list of people that Chris wanted to try and get on the track. While his schedule was tight, he does appear on acoustic guitar which was an awesome touch, and makes the whole thing “complete” in a lot of ways. Once again, mastering on this track was done by Andy VanDette at Engineroom Audio in NYC, while artwork was done by Dan Verkys.

TPCM - resizeTPCM – July 2013 [ Music Video | Buy]

Short for “This Poisonous Corporate Machine”, this one features Paul Jolley on Keys, and Chris on guitars and vocals, with mixing by Dennis Leeflang, mastering by Maor Appelbaum and artwork by Dan Verkys. Inspired by some less than ideal happenings in his early working life, and in some ways, a sibling song to the previous single “You’re Not Alone”. While the artwork almost lends itself to a heavy metal type of song, this was purposely done given the dark vibes that the songs lyrics talk about. This cover is one of my all time favourite Dan Verkys pieces!!!

You're Not AloneYou’re Not Alone – April 2013 [ Music Video | Buy]

This one is another from the “Melbourne Records” collection of songs, with all the backing music being done there a few years back. When it came time to finish the song, I did lead guitar and lead vocals and home, with Dennis adding his drums in NYC and it was a done deal! As well as Dennis Leeflang‘s always mighty drumming, he also mixed, while Maor Appelbaum did mastering, and Dan Verkys did artwork! The cat you see there is our very own by the name of Kedi, and I shot the photo in our backyard at the time. Really liked the photo and the idea of having him on a piece and Dan did the rest!

Wasted Years – April 2012 [ Preview | Download ]

The second single released in the lead up to the completion of “It’d Be Rude Not To”, this acoustic take on the classic Iron Maiden song features Irene Slade on vocals, Mathew Szkup on guitars, Dennis Leeflang on drums and mix (at The Groove Cabin, New Jersey, USA), and Chris Szkup on guitars and bass, with the mastering again by Maor Appelbaum Mastering (NYC) and Artwork by Dan Verkys (Melbourne, Australia). The song was picked up by radio in a few different countries on the day of it’s release and is receiving positive feedback which isn’t something to be sneezed at where something as risky and potentially sacrilegious as reinterpreting an Iron Maiden song is concerned!!
